FAQ and troubleshooting
Quick answers for people deciding to join, and what to do when something looks off.
Before you join
Do I need to be technical?
No. When it opens, someone who manages your Discord server adds the Boat from a link and picks a channel. Everyone else types /cast start. There’s nothing to install or host.
Does the Boat apply to jobs for me?
No. It finds, scores, tailors and researches. You send every message and application yourself.
How many people can use it?
The plan is per Discord server, not per person. It’s built for small groups of friends, and credits are shared by everyone in the server.
Which jobs does it search?
Major job boards, for US jobs matching each member’s target roles, posted in the last day (or further back with /fish roles). Remote-only? Put “remote” in your deal-breakers.
When can we start?
We’re opening to a few servers at a time. Join the waitlist and we’ll email you once there’s a spot.
Using the Boat
No leads for me this morning
- Check your target roles with
/cast update. Each role is its own search, so list every title you’d take. - The fit bar may be filtering them out. Try
/fish roleswith a lower fit bar (50). - Some days are just quiet.
/leadsshows everything saved so far.
A command says “Sorry” or nothing happens
Try once more. If it fails again, email us the command you typed and roughly when.
“Thinking…” takes a while
Most replies take a few seconds. The first command after a quiet spell can take a little longer, and a tailored resume can take a minute.
A fact on my tailored resume isn’t true
Don’t send it. Fix it yourself, and tell us: the Boat must never invent experience. Always check anything flagged ⚠️ or 🚩.
We ran out of credits
The Boat stops spending and says so. Everything included in the plan keeps working. Buy a credit pack, or wait for next month’s credits. See Pricing and credits.
I don’t want the others to see a step
Don’t log it. Anything you /log is shared with the server, while your profile and resume stay private.
How do I stop reminders?
/remind off. See Daily reminders.
